Goto Mark Support

Learn the essential controls, solve common problems, or contact Wheelercode for help.

Quick start

Create a mark

Ctrl+Click neutral page content to place a mark immediately. On macOS, use Command+Click. Links, buttons, form controls, editable content, selected text, and other interactive elements retain their normal behavior.

Return to a mark

Select its colored marker beside the scrollbar. Goto Mark scrolls directly to the saved position.

Edit a mark

Double-click its scrollbar marker or visible page line. You can add a label, choose a color, change line and label visibility, or remove it.

Move or resize a line

Drag the middle of a page line vertically. Drag either invisible end region horizontally to resize or reposition the line.

Keyboard navigation

  • Shift+Up: go to the previous mark.
  • Shift+Down: go to the next mark.

Navigation stops at the first and last marks instead of wrapping.

Settings

Open the Goto Mark toolbar popup to:

  • Turn Goto Mark on or off for the current website
  • Choose fixed or cycling colors
  • Set default thickness, width, alignment, and glow
  • Show or hide page lines and their labels by default
  • Clear all marks on the current page

Per-mark color and visibility choices override the global defaults without changing your other marks.

Common problems

Goto Mark does not work on a browser page

Chrome and Edge protect internal pages such as chrome://extensions, edge://settings, their new-tab pages, and extension-store pages. Browser extensions cannot place content scripts on those pages.

Nothing happens on a local file

Open your browser’s extension-management page, select Goto Mark, enable Allow access to file URLs, and reload the local file.

An already-open tab does not respond after installation or update

Open the Goto Mark popup once. It will attempt to attach its bundled script to the active tab. If the popup still reports that the tab is unavailable, reload the webpage.

A mark moved after the page changed

Dynamic websites can insert, remove, or resize content. Goto Mark retains both a pixel position and a proportional fallback, but a substantially changed page may no longer have the same exact location. Move the line to update the saved position.

Goto Mark selected the wrong scrolling area

Goto Mark chooses one primary scrolling area per page. Pages containing several independent scrollable panels may not map every panel. Reload after the page has fully opened; if the problem continues, send the page address and browser version to support.

Managing and deleting data

  • Remove one mark through its editor.
  • Clear every mark on the current page through the toolbar popup.
  • Delete all locally stored Goto Mark data by uninstalling the extension.

Turning the extension off for a website does not delete that website’s marks.

Browser support

Goto Mark supports current desktop releases of Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. It does not run in Chrome or Edge on mobile devices.
